VAFA UMPIRES ASSOCIATION CELEBRATE 100 YEARS
After starting in 1926 the VAFA Umpires Association recently celebrated 100 years with a Centenary Dinner! It brought together past and present umpires for an amazing night, as well as special guest Matt Stevic who spoke about his journey umpiring 500 AFL games including 12 Grand Finals.
Congratulations to the Caulfield Grammarians men’s and women’s players selected in their Team of the Quarter Century! The CGFC community all came together for team presentations and a reverse raffle to celebrate the occasion last weekend.
Last night the Hawthorn Amateur Football Club were presented as finalists in the Boroondara Sports Awards! The Hawks were nominated as one of the Innovative Club’s of the Year for amazing work with their Wings Mental Health Program.
VAFA Media’s lead commentator, For the Love of the Game podcast panellist and Bulldogs superfan Matthew Donald made his SEN Dogs Radio debut last week, doing a great job alongside Western Bulldogs greats!
Congratulationsto Kew Football Club’s Under 19 Men’s who got their first victory of 2026, winning a nailbiter over Brunswick by one-point! It has been a tough year with low numbers, but the perseverance and hard work paid off last Friday night in a drought breaking win.
Last weekend, Marcellin OC star Laura ‘Junior’ Robertson played in her 100th game! Junior has done it all, winning the best on ground medal in the club’s inaugural women’s premiership in 2017, a Big V representative and multiple VAFA Team of the Year appearances.
Congratulations to Williamstown CYMS legend Callum Richards who reached 200 games for the club last weekend! He has won multiple Premierships and Best and Fairest awards and is known for producing the ‘Cal Richards hip swivel’ on field.
Chloe Grisinski recently became the second woman to reach 50 games for Old Carey! Known for her incredible leadership and hard work to build up the club’s skills and culture to where it is today.
Congratulations to Ash ‘Sting’ Rae who has reached 150 games for North Brunswick! The Bulls star wingman recently made the club’s Men’s Team of the Decade and is known for his effort and consistency.
