2026 VAFA Finals Fixture – August 29-30
The fixture has been released for the Week 2 of the 2026 VAFA Finals Series, featuring Men’s Thirds Preliminary Finals, Premier B, Divisional Women’s Preliminary Finals and Holmesglen U19 Finals.
The VAFA is proud to celebrate the outstanding contributions of volunteers who go above and beyond to support their clubs and embody the values of our community. Each month, we receive nominations that highlight inspiring stories of dedication, leadership, and impact and July was no exception.
The Pass Volunteer of the Month for July is Evan Llloyd from West Brunswick FC.
Evan Lloyd has been a dedicated member of the West Brunswick FC for more than 20 years, Life Member (2017), President (2022-2024) and 250 game player.
Since 2024, he has pioneered a club babysitting program that has transformed West Brunswick, enabling parents, particularly women, to extend their careers, return to the game, start playing, and stay connected to our community. Evan continues to make a meaningful impact at the club.
Nominated by committee member Lydia Holt:
“We nominate Evan for his profound commitment to inclusivity and community connection. A dedicated Life Member (2017), 250-game veteran, and long-term Executive Committee member (including President 2022-24), Evan is on track to become a Club Legend after 20 years of service.
“Evan’s most significant impact lies in his pioneering West Brunswick babysitting program. Understanding the barriers parents and caregivers face in participating in sport, Evan launched this initiative in late 2024, preparing a business plan providing childcare for training sessions.
“By 2025, he expanded coverage to all games and secured funding through the City of Melbourne and a $5,000 annual donation. In 2026, he championed essential governance, including Child Safety and Safeguarding, secured a $20,000 philanthropic donation, and is further assisting other Clubs to implement their own program.
“The program has transformed our club, enabling parents, particularly women, to extend their careers, return to the game, start playing, and stay connected to our community. Beyond our Club, Evan has mentored other local organizations to adopt similar models. As a Club that prides itself on footy being for everyone, Evan’s vision has smashed barriers to participation, ensuring our community remains a vibrant, inclusive space for all.”
We commend Evan’s contribution to his club over the years and the wider VAFA community.
