2026 VAFA Finals Fixture – August 29-30
The fixture has been released for Week 2 of the 2026 VAFA Finals Series, featuring Men’s Thirds Preliminary Finals, Premier B, Divisional Women’s Preliminary Finals and Holmesglen U19 Finals. PREMIER
The VAFA congratulates Joe Holden from Parkside, who has been nominated as the Week 19 VAFA Men’s Rising Star.
Joe booted 10 goals in Parkside’s Division 1 victory over Monash Blues on the weekend, taking his season tally to 46 goals. The 18-year-old has been a consistent contributor in front of goal throughout the season.
What the club said:
Joe Holden started his Parkside journey in the juniors back in 2015, following older brothers Matt and Paul. Playing a couple of U19s and senior games, during the last of his 10 years of junior football, Joe was a regular fixture in the senior side this year, missing only 2 games through injury.
He has settled well into the senior side this year, being the focal point up forward kicking over 30 goals.

Joe is an exceptional young man with genuine talent for football, having come through the Parkside Junior Club. From his junior years, Joe has embraced the importance of work ethic, commitment and high standards at training, and these qualities have allowed him to flourish as a footballer.
Joe, brother of Matt Holden, has a great willingness to learn and continually improve. With exceptional hands and an outstanding vertical leap, he has the ability to take some of the most difficult marks and make a strong impact in the forward line.
One of the hardest workers at training, Joe’s determination and desire to succeed are matched by his natural talent. He is also developing into a young leader, providing direction and plenty of voice in the forward line while leading by example.
Joe is a brilliant young man who is highly respected by his teammates and coaches. With his attitude, work ethic and talent, he has a very bright future ahead and will continue to grow and succeed in his football.
