Aquinas lift their game to be crowned Premiers – Division 4 Women’s Grand Final Review

Aquinas have been crowned Division 4 Women’s Premiers, defeating Mazenod by 32 points at Waverley Oval.

Including the opening week of finals where Mazenod won by two points, the Nodders led the 2026 head-to-head matchups coming into this contest 2-1.

The Bloods had the perfect start, kicking three goals to Mazenod’s zero in the opening term to establish an early lead.

No goals were scored in the second quarter, with both teams lifting their defensive, giving Aquinas a 19-point lead at half-time.

The Bloods then kicked two goals, through strong ball movement, building the momentum in the second half, extending the margin to 32 points at three-quarter-time.

Mazenod finished the game on a positive note, scoring their first major of the game through Shelby Vicic, but it was the Bloods who came up victorious the seal the premiership.

A major key to Aquinas’ success on the day was the countless efforts from Tia Steen in defence. Taking intercept marks and catapulting her side forward in attack, she was a well deserving winner of the Best on Ground Medal.

Aquinas coach Phil Box was delighted with the team effort his side produced and how every player contributed to the victory on the day.

“It was a day where lots of what we had worked on throughout the year came off, and that was pleasing.

“Seeing the wider Aquinas community there in support and the joy that it brought so many was the best part.

“Mazenod missed out on the day, but we played them four times this year and it was really clear that they are an excellent club with a strong culture, filled with fantastic players and coaches with great values. We look forward to our battles with them in the future.”
