The Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) is pleased to announce that Box Hill North Football Club is set to return to VAFA football in 2027, marking an exciting new chapter in the club’s proud history.
After entering recess in early 2026, Box Hill North has been working diligently behind the scenes to rebuild its foundations, reconnect with its community and prepare for a sustainable return to football.
Box Hill North’s return will not only bring another historic club back into the VAFA community but will also help strengthen football opportunities within Melbourne’s eastern suburbs.
“Box Hill North Football Club is coming back to the VAFA in 2027, stronger in purpose and united by the things that have always made this club special; friendship, mateship, community and belonging,” said Box Hill North Football Club President Laurie Zarafa.
“This isn’t just a return to football. It’s the beginning of a new chapter for our club.”
While the club’s return is still months away, planning is already well underway. Recruitment efforts have commenced and the club is actively working to reconnect with former players, attract new members and engage volunteers who want to help shape the future of the club.
The return also represents an opportunity to strengthen community connections and create a welcoming environment for players, volunteers, supporters and families.
“It is exciting to see the re-emergence of Box Hill North Football Club’s senior men’s program for season 2027” said VAFA CEO Jason Reddick.
“The Box Hill North ‘Demons’ have been a valued Member Club of the VAFA since being first admitted into our competition in season 2002, and we look forward to their return to Amateur ranks next year.
“VAFA staff are supporting President Laurie Zarafa and his committee in the re-entry of their senior men’s teams, in this initial phase of their new strategic growth plans.”
Box Hill North is encouraging former players, volunteers, sponsors and community members to become part of the club’s return journey.
Information regarding pre-season training, player recruitment, membership and other opportunities to get involved will be shared through the club’s social media channels in the coming weeks.
For those looking to be part of a club built on friendship, community and belonging, now is the perfect time to reconnect with Box Hill North Football Club and help write the next chapter of its story.
