Old Geelong have won the first flag in the VAFA for season 2012 with a 53 point win over Hawthorn in the Club XVIII (2) Grand Final at Sportscover Arena. 
The OG’s turned on the magic in the premiership quarter using the breeze to their advantage to build a strong 31 point buffer at three quarter time. 
Tom Waters won the medal for best on the ground but it could of gone to any number of Old Geelong players. 
It was party time in the final quarter as goals continued to go through for Old Geelong including a huge torpedo goal that sent the crowd wild as the popping of Champagne bottles could be heard back at Como Park. 
Earlier it was a tight contest with both sides going in hard at the contest and scores were 2.2 a piece at quarter time.
Old Geelong had a small 9 point advantage going into the main break but Hawthorn’s failure to use the breeze in the second term that cost them.
