Old Haileybury cap remarkable finals series with Grand FInal victory

Old Haileyburians continued to defy the odds as they defeated Monash Blues in the Premier C grand final at Trevor Barker Oval.

Leading by just 13 points at the final change, the Bloods piled on five goals to nil in the final term to run away 48-point winners.

Captain Peter Gleadhill dominated in a flawless performance, deservedly being named as best on ground from the officiating umpires. His ability to lead through his actions shone as he inspired his troops to the unbelievable victory.

John Nicolopoulos tore shreds up forward, booting four of the Bloods’ 13 goals, while Ed Limon, Nathan Waite and Joshua Dawson kicked two each.

Joseph Griffiths did his utmost for the Blues, kicking three goals and being named as one of their best players.

It was an a fantastic achievement for the Bloods, after they finished the home and away season in fourth position on the ladder with 11 wins from their 18 matches.
