For the Love of the Game’s Week 11 in Review
Jason Bennett, Matty Donald & Brayden May run the ruler over another enormous weekend of VAFA action, covering off EVERY senior men’s & women’s competition, plus Holmesglen Under 19 Premier.
A few months ago I was contacted by a someone writing to me under the name of the ‘VAFA Insider’. Complete with email address of that name and an ability to keep their identity hidden, the VAFA Insider sent me a list of players ranked from 1-30 as the players they see as the best in Premier Section of the VAFA. A mini Mike Sheehan top 30 if you will.
After an interchange of emails attempting to identify this mystery person – all to no avail – I agreed to publish the list to see what sort of discussion it would generate.
The Insider claimed to have been watching Premier Section football for a significant number of years and also claims to watch a variety of teams rather than just station themselves at one ground.
The VAFA insider has made some slight adjustments to their list just after halfway but it is predominately the same as at the start of the year.
The VAFA State Selectors have named their squad for the matches against the VCFL and there are some names missing from that list when you look at the list below, however overall it shows the state selectors are spot on the money according to the ‘Insider’
So has the ‘VAFA Insider’ got it right? We will post the article on our Facebook page and let the discussion unfold there.
Who is missing? Who is too high? Who is not high enough? Head to https://www.facebook.com/VAFA.HQ and join the discussion.
