Conditions put paid to dreams and accuracy in front of goal suffered as the first signs of winter hit VAFA football today. Teams won their first, and teams lost their first. There were two more draws. And others rolled on. Three rounds in the bag, fifteen to go. 
Collegians stayed perfect, beating Old Trinity after a tight first half. Andrew Ramsden kicked six for the Ts. De La Salle smashed St Bede’s/Mentone Tigers at Waverley Park. Uni Blues withstood a third quarter surge from Caulfield Grammarians at Sportscover to win its first for the season. Old Carey beat St Bernard’s by 40 points at Dunshea. Old Scotch led all day to beat Old Xaverians at Camberwell.  PERFECT: Collegians. YET TO WIN: Caulfield Grammarians and Old Trinity. 
In Premier B, AJAX did not score a goal until the final term and was well beaten by Uni Blacks, for whom Justin Crameri slotted five. Old Ivanhoe dropped its third on end, losing at home to Werribee Districts, who came from behind to snatch the points. Beaumaris stayed perfect with a comfortable win over Old Brighton, despite Jon Perrett kicking six and James North five for the Tonners. Old Haileybury was too strong for Oakleigh in the final term, winning by 31 points. St Kevin’s pulverised Old Melburnians at the King. PERFECT: Beaumaris, St Kevin’s, Uni Blacks. YET TO WIN: Old Brighton, Oakleigh, Old Ivanhoe. 
Old Camberwell held out a determined Monash Blues to win by nine points in Premier C. Banyule destroyed Hampton Rovers by 119 points with Adam Barclay kicking six, while Parkdale Vultures won comfortably over previously unbeaten Rupertswood. Marcellin held on to beat the Nodders by 2 points. PEGS beat Fitzroy, with David Forrest booting five for the winner. PERFECT: NIL YET TO WIN: Hampton Rovers, Mazenod.
In Division 1, Old Mentonians and Ormond played out a 47-47 draw. Glen Eira pounded St John’s, reversing last season’s grand final result. Old Geelong won by 58 points with Paul Ellis kicking seven, continuing Williamstown CYMS’ horror start to the season. NOBSPC thumped MHSOB after a fast start. Peninsula had a win at Whitefriars to stay undefeated. PERFECT: Peninsula YET TO WIN: Willy, St John’s. 
In Division 2, heartbreak for Emmaus St Leo’s, which kicked six behinds in the final stanza and was edged by Old Paradians. Therry Penola had a tight clash with South Melbourne Districts and emerged the victor by 18 points. Bulleen Temp stayed happy with a big win over Monash Gryphons. Prahran Assumption was too strong for Eltham with Adam Sleight bagging six. La Trobe had five from Jack McMeel in defeating St Mary’s Salesian. PERFECT: Bulleen Temp. YET TO WIN: Emmaus St Leo’s 
Albert Park finished the stronger in its Division 3 match with Old Westbourne to win by nine points. Troy Whiting kicked five for the vanquished. St Francis Xavier clobbered Hawthorn, which kicked just eleven behinds for the afternoon. Richmond Central had too much for Aquinas and Yarra Valley accounted easily for UHS-VU. Power House came back in the final term and snatched a draw with Elsternwick. Ivanhoe beat Kew. PERFECT: Yarra Valley YET TO WIN: Hawthorn, Power House. 
Chadstone began in sprightly fashion, booting 5.7 in the first stanza, but fell away after the half to go down to Point Cook by 92 points. Aaron Marsh kicked seven for the winners. Jesse Albrecht kicked another eight as South Mornington slammed Box Hill North by 101 points. Chris Kilmartin’s six saw Swinburne home over North Brunswick. Eley Park got six from David “Sweet Music” Viola in their competitive clash with Manningham Cobras, who were outlasted by 20 points. The Cider Men of Mount Lilydale beat West Brunswick. PERFECT: Soth Mornington, Swinburne. YET TO WIN: Chadstone, Manningham Cobras.
