Sunday finals action saw St John’s beat Therry Penola in a heartbreaker to win a spot in the Grand Final and promotion to Div 1 in 2012. Therry came from behind to level the scores late in the piece but St John’s responded and won the day by eight points.The game was marred by a shocking leg break suffered by Wade George.
In Premier, Xavs stunned Uni Blues in the first half, leading by 73 points at half-time. The Red and Blacks were beaten badly in the second half, as the Varsity got its game going, though the reigning premier was never in danger of losing. Matt Handley was a sensation with seven goals. They meet St Bede’s Mentone Tigers next Sunday.
St Bernard’s dominated the second half to move to next week’s Premier B prelim against St Kevin’s. Tate Pearson kicked five for the Snow Dogs. Old Camberwell proved too strong for Mazenod and will meet AJAX in Prem C next week. 
In Division 3, Monash Gryphons were too good for Ivanhoe, and will meet Yarra Valley in the preliminary final next week.
