Therry Penola OBFC continued to celebrate the preseason return of favourite sons as they last night welcomed back Jarrod Bannister to the club.
Bannister has been playing with Pascoe Vale in the EDFL and also with the Northern Bullants in the VFL since he left JP Fawkner.
Bannister’s return is a significant coup for the club who have been in Division 2 for the past 5 seasons.
The past decade has been one of the Lion’s leanest in terms of premierships with the Therry Penola only winning one reserves flag in the past 12 years.
Bannister will join older brother Corey who returned to Therry Penola in the middle of the 2012 season.
It seems to be the year of returns at Therry who have welcomed back new Senior coach Dennis Castaldi along with his assistants Bernie Carter, Stephen Boyle, Paul McCann & John Vaina.
The returns continue with Dave Goodwin taking the reins of the Reserves after stints with Lancefield & Macedon and Mark Hudson who has taken over the Thirds after returning to to the club from Glenroy.
Goodwin is a 2000 senior premiership player and Hudson was captain of the 1994 under 19 premiership.
Nick Milevski & Matt Reynolds also return to JP Fawkner after spending most of 2012 traveling and playing cricket overseas.
Therry Penola commenced their pre-season last night with over 60 players hitting the track for the first time under Castaldi.
Training continues every Monday and Wednesday until Christmas from 5:45pm at JP Fawkner Reserve in Francis Street, Oak Park, all players are welcome.
