Turtles reign supreme after slow start, JOCs topple Westies

Eltham Collegians claimed their first four points for the season as they defeated Richmond Central by 35 points at Eltham College. Leading by 16 points at half time, the Turtles restricted the Snakes to just three goals in the second half while piling on six of their own to run out comfortable winners. Ben Gill’s season continues to go from strength to strength as he kicked four in his side’s victory.

A goalless opening term did little to shake Yarra Valley as they defeated Bulleen Templestowe by 23 points at Doncaster Reserve. Ross Little kicked three of the Bushrangers’ six goals, while Chance Burridge starred for the Bullants.

St John’s earnt bragging rights in their top-of-the-table clash against West Brunswick, running out 20-point winners at Thomas Carroll Reserve. Anthony Brannan’s three goals gave him best on ground honours for the undefeated JOCs, while Ben Kline kicked three for the Westies, who now fall to third on the ladder.

Preston Bullants regained second spot on the Division 2 ladder as they defeated Emmaus St Leo’s by 28 points at WR Ruthven Reserve. The Bullants allowed the Animals to kick the first three goals of the match but pegged them back with three to one in the second before dominating the final two terms of the match. Damon Marcon snagged four goals for the Bullants, while Paul Baranello starred for the Animals.
