The Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA) Board is pleased to announce Shona MacInnes has been appointed as General Manager, Business and Projects.
A newly-established role within the organisation, key aspects of the position include overseeing all commercial sponsorship and supplier agreements with the Sponsorship Manager, VAFA events, heritage, governance and compliance. Furthermore, Shona will continue to manage women’s football-related matters in 2019.
“With our women’s football competition further settling in 2019 I’m looking forward to broadening my involvement with the greater VAFA community and expanding my role across areas I’m extremely passionate about,” Shona said.
VAFA CEO Brett Connell said the position had been created following a review and re-structure of the business, which specifically identified the areas of governance and compliance and our heritage sector as those of immediate importance for the Association and our clubs.
“Our new structure will provide broader coverage for the business and clubs across these important areas and also see us re-invest into servicing our existing sponsor partners and developing new business opportunities and revenue streams,” he said.
Shona joined the VAFA in October 2016 as the Women’s Football Club Development Officer and has successfully overseen the exponential growth of the women’s competition in the first two years, with a total of 63 teams from 47 clubs partaking in the 2018 season.
She brings a wealth of knowledge in community football, having previously sat on the Board of Melbourne University Football Club as well as spending two years as President of Kew Junior Football Club.
Prior to joining the VAFA, Shona worked as a Business Manager and has fulfilled several roles in events management and sponsorship.
