VAFA Tragics received the AFL Victoria Media Award for Best Use of Online Media (TV Show) at Ikon Park on Friday.

Shortlisted alongside four community football shows, the Tragics were awarded at a luncheon with more than 100 local media representatives in attendance.

Head of Media, Nick Armistead, said it was a great achievement and recognition for those involved in the show’s production each week of the VAFA season.

“Andrew Leonard gives up his time and expertise each Monday night for filming and is thoroughly deserving of the award,” he said.

“His knowledge and enthusiasm for the competition is second-to-none.”

“I’d like to thank My Sport Live, Lucy Lechich and, most importantly, each guest we had throughout the year.”

The Tragics had 24 guests on 21 episodes throughout the 2018 season, culminating in increased views on both YouTube (full episodes) and Facebook (segments).

They promulgated the reduction of dim sim prices at community football clubs via #dimsimgate, while increasing engagement through the promotion of club’s social media work with the Best Use of Social segment.

It is the second time the Tragics have won this award after first claiming it in 2016.
