The fixture has been released for the Week 1 of the 2026 VAFA Finals Series, featuring Men’s Thirds Semi Finals, as well as Premier B, Divisional and Holmesglen U19 Premier
Collegians continued their successful off-season and bid for finals in 2017 with the announcement of former AFL player Viv Michie as the latest in a series of strong recruits.
The Lions shared the news via social media yesterday and said it was pleasing to see the former Wesley College student back in the purple and gold.
Drafted to Fremantle with pick 44 in the 2010 AFL National Draft, Michie was struck down by injury his first two years at the Club but went on to claim Peel Thunder’s Best & Fairest Award in 2013. He was traded to Melbourne during the 2013 trade period for pick 54.
He notched up 21 games at the Demons but made his mark for their VFL affiliate Casey Scorpions. In 35 games over three years, Michie was named in the Scorpions’ best 24 times.
Michie will join Lachie Ferguson, Nick Dixon, Corey Cassidy, Kalem Post, Kenny Ong and Jake Trotter as the latest fulltime acquisitions for the ever-improving Lions outfit.
The Lions were one of three William Buck Premier teams to finish on eight wins in 2016 but showcased supreme defensive nous as they allowed the fewest points against (62.8ppg) of any side outside the top four.
