Cheryl is a current Director at Barton Deakin Government Relations one of Australia’s largest and most respected government relations companies.

Cheryl was formerly CEO of Australian Pipeline Industry Association, Chief of Staff to the Hon Warren Truss MP (1997-2004), a media and political adviser and journalist. Cheryl is an avid Bulldogs fan and is moving from Canberra to Melbourne over the coming months.

Megan Taberner (New)

Megan is an experienced lawyer who specialises in employment law. She has a strong understanding of the VAFA competition and its values after spending the past four years as an active member of the VAFA’s Independent Integrity Committee.

Megan completed a Bachelor of Science at Melbourne University before deciding to pursue a career in law.  Megan is a keen sports woman, having ridden horses and competed in eventing during her teenage years, and having played netball in both rural Victoria and Melbourne.

Megan is a passionate North Melbourne supporter and realises and appreciates the value and engagement that community sport provides for its members and stakeholders.

Megan Dwyer (Resigned)

Cheryl replaces Megan Dwyer who was seconded onto the Board in 2015 and then became an elected Board Member in 2016.

Megan has led the VAFA’s People and Culture sub-committee during that time provided support in HR related matters, specifically guiding the organisation’s structural change, encouraging Administration Team professional development and also as a key driver in supporting the health and well-being of the staff in general.

The VAFA offers a huge thanks to Megan for her incredible service over the past six years.
