Richard Evans
Richard Evans was inducted as a Life Member of the VAFA in 2004.
Richard’s distinguished VAFA career both as a Club Delegate from 1969 to 1991 and as a long standing VAFA administrator is well known. As an excellent ‘sounding board’ for less experienced board members and for club executive members in all grades, Richard is held in high esteem within the VAFA.
In 1991 Richard became a member of the VAFA’s Permit Committee and was elected Chairman of the Permit Committee in 1993, holding this position until 2002. Having also been elected to the VAFA Executive in 1992 he continued as an esteemed Executive member through 2009 and had served as Chairman of the Executive from 1998 until 2000.
In 1993 Richard had been appointed Chairman of the important VAFA Permit Committee, occupying this key role until 2002. During this period Richard also had the distinction of being appointed Permit Committee Chairman.
In 2001 Richard achieved the distinction of being elected as President of the VAFA for three seasons concluding 2003. In 2006 Richard received the Football Victoria “Service to Football Award’.
After resigning from the VAFA Executive Committee in 2009, Richard took on the key role of Chairman of the VAFA Investigation Committee, serving in that capacity until 2021.
Richard retired from all committees in 2022 but continues to perpetuate a strong interest in the VAFA and remains a key point of contact for current club executives and fellow life members.
