Michael, a Senior Partner at Kelly Hazell Lawyers, retired at the end of this season after playing an integral part in St Bedes Mentone Tigers record breaking premiership success. Michael has had a distinguished playing career in the VAFA including captaining Old Melburnians to premiership success in 2002, representing the VAFA on numerous occasions, coaching his former school side Salesian OB to finals and this year’s A Section premiership success with St Bedes Mentone Tigers.
VAFA President Nick Bourke said of Michael’s election, “it’s wonderful to have someone of Michael’s calibre joining the Board and giving of his time and expertise for the Association. At 35 and a recently retired player of distinction, Michael brings a nice balance of freshness and experience to the Board which no doubt our Association will benefit greatly from. I congratulate and thank Michael for taking this step.”
