Old Trinity stormed home at McKinnon to spoil Robert Harvey’s debut with Old Haileybury. The dual Brownlow Medallist was named second best for the Bloods, but his team couldn’t go with the Greens after half-time. Andy Cultrera kicked seven while Scott Krakouer, a former 400m champion, was best afield.
Hampton Rovers put in a strong second half but went down to Uni Blacks by 16 points. Tom McCarthy was best for Rovers, while Huw Lacey managed a hat-trick and Lucas van Kempen was best for Blacks.
All-Australian Ben Dowd kicked 6 goals and turned in a BOG performance as St Kevin’s strutted home after leading narrowly at three-quarter time. Melbourne cricketer Grant Baldwin was best for Old Carey, who conceded eight goals in the final stanza.
Old Camberwell had a strong final quarter, but still went down to OMs by 80 points. Tim Davis kicked four and Michael Davis was best on ground for the Redlegs. Matt Partington was best for the Wellers.
St Bernard’s put away Ormond by four goals, with Ben Jordan best for the Snow Dogs. Matt McConvill rucked tirelessly for the Monders.
