There was good news in this morning’s AFL Rookie Draft for Daniel Nicholson (Uni Blues) and Ben Jakobi (Old Brighton).
Nicholson was taken by Melbourne at pick 14 after a stellar 2010, in which he represented the VAFA at U19 and U23 level with great distinction. The speedster seems certain to light up AFL grounds for years to come.
Ben Jakobi went to Richmond at pick 12, after an injury shortened season with Coburg and the Tonners. No doubt his traineeship at the VAFA administration this season impressed the Tiges and convinced them that his solid work ethic would be a bonus at Punt Road.
