SATURDAY SKINNY R5

By VAFA · May 13, 2011
SATURDAY SKINNY R5

It wasn’t a day when it rained goals, but the four points are worth the same each week.
In Premier, Old Carey returned to the winners list, defeating OMs by 8 points and handing them to sole possession of tenth spot at 0-5. Uni Blues broke its duck, towelling Haileybury by 70 points with Paddy Smith slamming home five. St Bede’s/Mentone Tigers beat Xavs by 11 points at Brindisi Street and De La was never in danger against Old Scotch, winnining by 33 points. Collegians play Old Trinity tomorrow at Sportscover, beginning 1:20pm.
In Premier B, Caulfield Grammarians beat Uni Blacks by ten points, SKOB drubbed the Hoes in a low scoring affair, Marcellin won its second on end, defeating Old Brighton by 3 points. Bernies won at home against Beauy, with Tate Pearson snagging six, and Oakleigh tossed Hampton Rovers after the umps had tossed three rovers’ players and Josh Paola slotted six for the Krushers.
Monash Blues failed by just nine points to upset Premier C leader AJAX. Fitzroy smashed a previously hot MHSOB by 91 points. Werribee beat Ormond by 46 points, while the Nodders were all over the Wellers. Old Essendon accounted easily for Rupo.
Division 1 pacesetter Banyule romped over Peninsula, Old Geelong beat Mentonians at Keysborough, Whitefriars edged Paradians and Parkdale Vultures sneaked home against NOBSPC with Claye Tobin slipping through five. CYs beat Bulleen-Temp.
Jake George booted another seven to boost Therry over SMS in Div 2. League leader Glen Eira pumped Old Westbourne with Glenn Boyd kicking seven. St John’s got home against Emmaus St Leo’s, Adam kicked six as SMD beat Aquinas by a margin in the battle of the Bloods. The Trobers beat the Turtles in a low scoring effort.
In Div 3, Prahran Assumption torched Elsternwick, UHS-VU pipped the Cider Men by a point, Hawthorn beat the struggling Power House and Yarra Valley dispatched West Brunswick. Monash Gryphons were too strong for Ivanhoe. Kew squeaked home over Albert Park.
Division 4 saw Richmond Central (Sean O’Connor six) surprise Box Hill North and Manningham Cobras beat North Brunswick. SFX stayed hot, with Ben Spencer slotting eight to see them home over Eley Park. South Mornington walloped the Shoppers. Swinburne Uni got six from Damon Green and had a stronger second half to tip out the Cookies (Aaron Marsh five).
