Ricky Hayward was judged best afield in a Vultures team that got seven goals from Lachlan Oakley and five from Chad Ryan.
In Division 4, St Francis Xavier won its first senior flag, defeating Richmond Central at Scammell Reserve. Meehan Medallist Dimitri Dimakopoulos was high in SFX’s best and kicked three goals.
At HQ, St Bernard’s came home stronger in a tight Premier B preliminary contest with St Kevin’s. Andrew Merrington kicked three last quarter goals as the Snow Dogs edged away to claim a place in next week’s GF with Caulfield Grammarians.
For Old Camberwell, its season season ended as harshly as it began. Jake Lew kicked nine goals as AJAX careered away from the first bounce and won in a canter. The Jackers meet Werribee Districts next week in the GF.
