St Kevin’s player Gerard Gleeson has been named captain of the VAFA U19 side to take on AFL Victoria Country on Saturday at St Alban’s Reserve in Geelong.
The Vice Captains of the side are Tom Silvestro (Caulfield Grammarians) and Anthony Scott (Old Trinity).
The VAFA side has drawn on players from five sections from Premier to Division 2 with 15 clubs represented in total.
Both Old Trintiy and St Bedes/Mentone Tigers have the most representatives in the side with three players each from their clubs.
Coach David Gately told VAFA TV he was excited about getting the group together again and was keen to take on the country again after he led the VAFA to a four point win last year.
The game will commence at 11.00am and will be followed by the VAFA Premier B-Division 4 clash with AFL Victoria Country No.2 side’s clash, also at St Albans Reserve.
Congratulations also to the umpires from the VAFA who have been appointed. Andrew Bowden who is in his 3rd season of field umpiring with the VAFA and he gains his first representative appointment. Hugh Bennett & first year umpire Jack Punshon will be two of the boundary umpires and both are very excited with their appointments. Finally, Josh Prince is officiating as a goal umpire in his first representative match.
