TWO TO GO IN THE DIVISIONS

In Division 1, it was a mismatch of 80 point proportions when NOBs/St Pat’s met MHSOB. Keown and O’Donoghue kicked half a dozen goals each in a powerful performance for NOBs/St Pat’s. 
Old Geelong bounced back with a 37 point win over Whitefriars to hold their claim on fourth spot. OG’s holding fourth on percentage from Old Mentonians. 
The Panthers kept the pressure up on OG’s with a 49 point win over Bulleen Templestowe. Old Mentonians’ win put a stop the Bullants’ mini resurgence and leaves them a game behind Whitefriars and safety with two to play. Robertson (OM) and Cowell (BT) both booted four goals each for their respective sides. 
Williamstown CYMS were made to work all the way by Yarra Valley as the CYs prevailed by just two goals at Doncaster. Yeo was great for the Bushrangers, but his five goals were not enough to get them over the line. 
Prahran Assumption hosted the undefeated Therry Penola and for the second time this year the Two Blues were unable to contain Jarrod Bannister who took his season tally to 88 goals with a five goal haul. The Lions proved too strong to win their 16th straight match of the season by 38 points. The loss leaves Prahran Assumption two game out of the four and likely to miss finals for the first time in a number of seasons. 

Division 2 saw the top play bottom and Kew returned to some serious form in their dismantling of Glen Eira. The Bears won by 122 points as Andrew Brazzale kicked five goals. 
Elsternwick won the relegation grudge match against Monash Gryphons by 29 points to move a game clear of the ninth placed Gryphons. Thornton was the difference with his seven goals the standout performance on the day. 
St John’s made the longest road trip in the section a good one as they travelled North to Old Paradians and left with a valuable four points. The 10 point win sees the JOCs just a game behind Paradians in fourth spot with a couple of fixtures to go. 
St Mary’s Salesian were at their usual best on their home ground againt the visiting Old Eltham. The Saints beating the Turtles by 58 points to move a game clear in second. Dywer booting four goals in his 150th game for the club. 
Ivanhoe were too good for South Melbourne Districts to win by 67 points. In what was essentially a dead rubber, Lovell was the star for the Hoes with five goals. 

Aquinas continued their bold push for the highest seeding possible in Division 3 with a 50 point win over Albert Park. 
Emmaus St Leo’s held La Trobe Uni goalless for three quarters before running out eventual 46 point winners at the Uni. The Animals remain on top whilst La Trobe sit a game clear above the relegation places. 
Northern Blues good form continued with an easy 118 point win over South Mornington. McRedmond kicked five goals and Marcon four as the Blues stay second on percentage to the Animals. 
Power House had a 60 point win over Eley Park Sharks that sees the House move a game clear in sixth spot and on track for a first finals appearance under Ant Voyage. 
Richmond Central also move a game clear of those outside the six as they beat UHS-VU by 56 points. UHS-VU are one of those teams out side and now will need results to go their way if they are to make it into finals action. Carland boted four goals for the Snakes in the win. 
Swinburne Uni ensured they can drop no lower than fourth spot after they beat St Francis Xavier by 27 points. The loss for the X-Men all but ending their finals hopes. 

In Division 4, Hawthorn made it a sweet 16 wins when they beat Canterbury by 32 points. Ince kicked five goals and Tremewen four in the win. 
Manningham Cobras were challenged every step of the way by the visiting Point cook. The Cobras prevailed by just four points and would need to completely fall off the perch in their final two matches in order to miss playing a finals series for the first time in four seasons. 
West Brunswick tuned up for September with a  72 point win over Box Hill North. Hulm kicked four the Pies, but 11 other teammates were on the scoreboard too. 
The battle of the bottom two wasn’t so much a battle as a massacre. North Brunswick rolling Chadstone by 224 points. The star of the show was Kenneth Zuidema who kicked a VAFA season high 15 goals, he was ably supported by Simon Mair who kicked six goals. The result was a stark contrast to the reserves match between these two, which ended in a draw. 
Westbourne Grammarians won by 21 points over Dragons and whilst there is a faint hope that they can still make September, the intensity in their efforts suggested the Grammarians realise that this year’s finals make up is already a fait accompli.
