Around the Grounds – Williamstown CYMS
Weeks deep into March and the town of Darley, hanging back-shoulder off the side of Bacchus Marsh and the snaking Western Freeway, is still an island of resistant, baking heat.
The VAFA has confirmed it will run a Colts competition in lieu of the Under 18 competition in 2015.
All clubs that were looking to play a side in the Under 18 competition have agreed to join the Colts competition. The VAFA Colts competition will feature predominantly under 18 players and will also be strictly an under 19 competition, with no overage players allowed.
General Manager of Football Operations, Brian Goodman was delighted with the outcome, “This is a great result for all our clubs with junior teams, we said at the time that just because a formal Under 18 competition would not be continued, that no one would be missing out on a game and this outcome has delivered on that promise.”
There are currently eight clubs looking to field a side in the new VAFA Colts competition including: the newest VAFA club Parkside, plus St Bernard’s, Williamstown CYMS, Mazenod, Old Paradians, UHS-V, Bulleen Templestowe and University Blues will all field a side..
Fixtures for all underage competitions will be available next week.
