There is a certain feeling of goodwill that surrounds a section when every side has at least had one win and Premier B, became the first of the senior sections of the VAFA to experience this with Round 4 proving again that Premier B is one of the most competitive sections in the VAFA.
St Kevin’s welcomed Hampton Rovers to TH King and swiftly sent them packing with a 57 point loss to think about. Celebrating club captain Anthony ‘Plugga’ Lynch’s 200th game in fine style, SKOBs were on a mission from the first bounce and had a stagger 12.18 to half time. The onslaught slowed somewhat in the second half but five goals from Henry Parkes and three from Lynch were enough for thwart the Rovers who had five goals from Matt Robbins.
Parkdale Vultures celebrated getting off the mark in fine style defeating the highly rated Old Melburnians by 12 points at Gerry Green. The Vultures got off to the best possible start with a five goal to none opening term and they were able to withstand the OM’s comeback.
Old Brighton kept their winning start to the season going with a 55 point win over Caulfield Grammarians as they played for the first time on the re-surfaced Beach Oval. Charlie King booted four goals for the Tonners in the win as they hold onto top spot.
Fitzroy too are on the winners list in 2015 after they defeated Mazenod by 31 points at Brunswick St Oval. The Roys were headed early, but with a four point lead going into the last, they slammed on eight final term goals to record an important win. Six goals to Stevic was the main avenue to goal for the Roys, both they and the Nodders are 1-3.
Another final term special from St Bedes/Mentone Tigers saw them extend a one point three-quarter time lead over AJAX to an astonishing 47 point win. The Tigers piled on the pain for the Jackers as they booted 8.5 in an avalanche to move their season to 3-1.
Whilst St Kevin’s and Old Brighton continue to do it easy, as Parkdale proved to Old Melburnians, any side can be beaten on the day, making for a fascinating next few weeks in Premier B.
