Whilst it was business as usual for a number of clubs, Northern Blues gave their biggest indication yet that they are still a force to be reckoned with in Division 2.
Blues were taking on the unbeaten Ivanhoe at Ruthven Reserve and the home side came up trumps to hand Ivanhoe their first defeat of 2015 by a goal. The Hoes charge home with six goals in the final term but Blues were able to hold on to take their season to 2-2.
St John’s remain the only undefeated side in the section as the JOCs had little trouble in handing Elsternwick a 64 point hiding. Aaron Thornton booted six goals against his old side on the lush expanses of Sportscover Arena.
Old Eltham had a good win, defeating MHSOB by 60 points. Zach Tranter booted six goals and John Laver booted four goals as the Turtles firmed up a spot in the four. The Unicorns have just the one win and sit in eighth spot.
Old Paradians had a 20 point win over Monash Gryphons in a low scoring affair at Parade College. Coach David Boundy again the difference as he booted six of his side’s eight goals for the day. The win has Paradians in fourth spot at 3-1.
Richmond Central piled on the misery for South Melbourne Districts as the Snakes ran out winners by 92 points in Albert Park. The Districts were at home for the first time this year but that did little to alter the end results as they succumbed to another huge loss that leaves them wedged to the bottom of the ladder with a percentage of just 24%.
