In Division 2 it’s still the JOCs that are undefeated whilst South Melbourne are still searching for their first points of the year.
It was a better showing from the Bloods this week as they went down to the visiting Northern Blues by 47 points in Albert Park. South Melbourne’s Clarke boys kicked five goals between them, but they were still no match for star Northern forward McRedmond who kicked five goals on his own. After a slow start, Northern Blues now have three straight wins.
MHSOB had an important home win over Elsternwick by eight goals. The Unicorns took their season to 2-3 whilst the Wicks are one of two teams with just the one win thus far.
Ivanhoe too returned to the winners list after they had a tough away win at Monash Gryphons to salute by 15 points. The Hoes’ Lovell booted six as they cling onto second spot on percentage from Old Paradians.
Old Paradians had a fantastic home win over Old Eltham in a Northern suburbs battle of the greens. Just two points separated the sides at orange time but Paradians, who had managed just five goals to three quarter time, pile on seven final quarter goals to get the points over the Turtles.
The match of the day was the shootout at Kevin Bartlett Reserve. Richmond Central pushing St John’s like no other this year, but the Snakes still fell short of the JOCs, going down by seven points. Scott booted six goals in the win for the JOCs.
