With the exception of St Kevin’s, things have tightened up in Premier B.
St Kevin’s recorded a seventh straight win as they beat Caulfield Grammarians by 76 points at TH King despite seven goals from Louis O’Keefe for the Fields. The load was shared for SKOBs who had 14 goalkickers contribute to their team total of 24 for the day.
The win of the day has to go to Fitzroy who beat St Bedes/Mentone Tigers by 34 points at Brunswick St Oval. The Roys were up the the challenge all day and whilst the Tigers’ famous final quarter blitzes would have been on their minds at three quarter time, it was instead the Roys that produced in the last term kicking five goals to one.
AJAX handed Old Brighton a third straight defeat as the Jackers won by nine points at the Beach Oval. Adam Caplan was the star, kicking five of the Jackers’ eleven goals for the day. Old Brighton slip to fourth whilst AJAX go to 3-4 a game outside the four.
In the absolute eight point game, Old Melburnians returned to their best form in a big way as they trounced Hampton Rovers by 89 points. Both Tom Hywood and Pat Garschagen kicked four goals in in the win that sees OMs move up to second.
The close one was at Mazenod College where the home side Mazenod won a one point thriller over Parkdale Vultures. It was the Nodders accuracy that won the day as Parkdale had nine more scoring shots but couldn’t land the killer blow. The win sees Mazenod jump a game clear of Parkdale, Fitzroy and Caulfield Grammarians who are all on two wins.
