Masala were given a painful lesson in football from the ladder-leading Canterbury, going down to the Cobras by 164 points at WJ Turner Reserve. Five scoring shots to 44 paints a picture of the way in which the match panned out, with Scott Fitzgerald the main destroyer for the Cobras, kicking five goals up forward.
In another Division Four demolition, Mt Lilydale continued their devastating midseason form with a 175-point win against South Mornington at Mercy College. Brandan Spencer was the main beneficiary of a dominant Rams midfield, kicking six of his side’s 27 goals. The Rams are now fifth on the ladder, while the Tigers dwindle in ninth win only two wins for the season.
Box Hill North recovered from a slow start to run out 40-point winners against North Brunswick at Elgar Park. After falling to a seven-point deficit at quarter time, the Demons kicked 12 goals to five, thanks in large to Drew Howlett’s four goals and Dylan Liistro’s best-on-ground performance. The Demons now move a game clear of the Bulls in fourth position.
Point Cook continued their red-hot run in 2015 with an enormous 108-point victory against Chadstone at Jordan reserve. The Bulldogs were able to keep the Synners to two goals for the match, while piling on 18 of their own. Rick Munn starred for the Bulldogs, snagging five majors in his side’s win.
Westbourne Grammarians continue to hold off Point Cook in third position on the ladder, defeating Manningham Cobras by 39 points at Koonung Reserve. Dale Collins is an unstoppable force up forward for the Warriors, kicking four goals in what is just another outing for the talented forward.
