From formation to A-Grade: Old Geelong Women’s makes history
Old Geelong Football Club opened its 2025 season in historic fashion, with its women’s side marking their first year in the William Buck Premier competition with two wins straight out
Every club has them. Every club needs them. They are the backbone – and often the heart and soul – of every grassroots football club in Australia.
They are the team managers who bring the oranges each and every week for more than 10 years; they are the Thursday night culinary kings and queens who never fail to produce a post training carbo-loaded feast; they are the time keepers with more stories than time to tell them.
From the senior coach to the gate keeper, community football clubs are shaped by the dedication of many local legends.
In conjunction with a grassroots initiative run by Sherrin, the Victorian Amateur Football Association calls upon its members to identify the local legends at their club and award them the recognition they deserve.
In doing so, you go into the draw to win two Brownlow medal tickets, Sherrin footballs for the legend’s club and a feature article in the AFL footy record.
