Remembering Ian Redpath
The recent passing of Australian cricketing great Ian Redpath reminded us of Paul Amy’s recent story for News Corp about Ian’s passion for the VAFA. Redpath is best known as
Last night we brought you the Round 12 update of the William Buck Premier Coaches MVP, with St Bernard’s star Adam Bentick leading the charge on 44 votes. He was just three votes ahead of OT’s Gabe Hamilton and four ahead of Xavs’ gun John Shaw.
With the MVP announced at tomorrow night’s VAFA Woodrow Medal and Awards Night at Crown’s River Room, we thought we’d whet your appetite by bringing you the Round 15 update, leaving three rounds of voting to go.
Each week the William Buck Premier coaches send through their votes on a 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 basis from their game on the weekend. Votes can be awarded to players from both sides, with the emphasis of the voting aimed at who the coaches believe was the most valuable player on the ground.
With both coaches voting in one match, the most a player can get is 10 votes (2 x 5).
As of Round 15, Bentick has been joined at the top of the leader board by University Blues’ Ross Young, with both players on 46 votes. It was a fruitful three rounds for Young as he piled on 17 votes; nine coming from the one match against Collegians in Round 14.
Simon Caven has climbed back up the leader board to third position following an eight-vote Round 13 clash against Collegians. He’s now just three votes behind our leaders on 43 and looks threatening with three rounds to go.
Boyse and Hamilton round out the top five, with Hamilton unable to poll a vote after a red-hot streak through rounds 7-12.
Find out who ranks in the top 20 from Round 15 below and vote on who you think will claim the William Buck Premier Coaches MVP on the VAFA home page.
