Premier Reserve
Old Xaverians won their third flag in 2015 when they defeated University Blues by 46 points at IKON Park yesterday.
Leading by eight points at the first break, Xavs came out firing in the final three quarters as they piled on 10 goals to four to run out the match.
Andy Pasceri was awarded the best on ground medallion for his efforts, while James Forrest and Robbie Ralph kicked five of their side’s 13 goals between them.
Patrick Gardiner took his chances in front of goal for the Blues as he booted three in the loss, while Rich Langham and Daniel Van de Pol were their best players on the day.
It was a turnaround in fortunes after the Blues’ defeated Xavs by one-point in the second semi-final two weeks prior.
Premier C Reserve
Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School added another premiership cup to their collection when they defeated Marcellin by 14 points to claim Premier C Reserve glory.
Kicking five goals to half time, PEGS were able to restrict the Eagles to just one of their own as they took a 23-point lead into the main break.
While Marcellin made a stirring comeback by kicking four of the last six goals, it was not enough in the end as PEGS were able to hold on for the win.
Jimmy Vovos was dominant for PEGS, kicking two goals and seemingly having the ball on a string.
Daniel Roscoe and Daniel Rowland were also named in PEGS’ best players, while Anthony Manakis stood tall for Marcellin.
Despite the loss, it was a sensational season by the Eagles after they finished the home and away season on top of the ladder with 17 wins from their 18 matches.
