Gay? That’s OK! Event organisers, Stand Up Events, are officially launching their sexuality and gender equality-focused organisation at the Glasshouse in Richmond on Wednesday 17 February at 7pm.
Created by Angie Greene, Stand Up Events is a not-for-profit organisation whose aim is to promote sexual and gender equality, while challenging hetero-normative thinking and behaviour in the Australian sporting culture.
“The main goal of Stand Up Events is to implement customised educational programs into our sporting communities,” Greene says.
“Education is imperative to us, as it is the first step to change.”
Stand Up Events has a number of high profile ambassadors, including Chris Judd, Trent Cotchin, Job Watson and Samantha Lane.
Furthermore, they helped promote last year’s luncheon during the Round 18 Gay? That’s OK! match between University Blacks and Collegians.
Led by Lachlan and Charles Beaton, Gay? That’s OK! is a self-established initiative used as a vehicle for social change and to encourage society to promote “tolerance, acceptance and safe environments for same-sex attracted people”.
