The House Power into finals, Hawks perched on top of the nest

Hawthorn solidified top spot on the Division 3 ladder as they defeated Glen Eira by 18 points at Packer Reserve. In a battle of one v two and quite possibly the Division 3 Grand Final preview, the Hawks came from seven points down at the first break and piled on nine of the next 14 goals. Clinton Thomas starred for the Hawks and Richard Ogge bagged four, while Leigh Stevens was the sole multiple goal kicker for the Saints.

Canterbury finished their season on a massive high, defeating Parkside by 119 points at Canterbury Sports Ground. Thomas Lowden (seven), Mitchell Szabo (four) and three each from Rowan Moody, Rohan Walmsley, Jeremy Price and Nick Szabo led the charge for the Corbras, while Thomas Mckinlay (four) and 2015 OJ Meehan medallist, Shane McLaren, fought valiantly for the Red Devils.

A 94-point victory over Aquinas will instil La Trobe University with a high sense of confidence heading into the Division 3 finals next weekend. The one-two punch of Mitch Gleeson (six) and Bruce Dowler (six) was front and centre at Aquinas College as both men played dominated from the outset. Jacob Christie was named best for the Trobers, while Lachlan Barnes and Russell Foster stood tall for the Bloods.

South Melbourne enter the finals in winning form after they defeated Swinburne University by three points in an unbelievable comeback at Lindsay Hassett Oval. Trailing by 23 points at the last break, the Swans booted four unanswered in the fourth to run over the top of the Razorbacks. Antony Vlitas led the charge for the Swans, while Thomas Kennedy and Ben Higgins kicked three each for Swinburne.

Albert Park ended UHSVU’s eight-game winning streak with a thrilling six-point come-from-behind victory at home. Trailing by 16 points with one quarter to play, the Tyson Cattle and James Brick-led Falcons stormed home with 4.11 to 2.1 in a dominant final term. Cheyne Kelly kicked three for the Vultures, who remain in fourth and four spots above the eighth-placed Falcons.

Six unanswered goals in the opening term laid the platform for Power House’s 58-point victory over Elsternwick at Ross Gregory Oval. Darren Baker nailed four goals for the House, while James Theofanis starred in a BOG performance. Andrew Oldfield (three) and Justin Hunter (three) stood tall for the Wicks, with Hunter finishing the season on 51 goals. The House enter finals in fifth spot on the ladder after winning their past six on the trot.
