Peninsula Pirates broke their 2016 hoodoo against Old Ivanhoe Grammarians and booked a preliminary final spot in the process as they ran out 26-point winners at Box Hill City Oval.
Having lost both home and away matches against the Hoes this season, the Pirates put the foot down early and took a 21-point lead into the half time break.
While the Hoes made a run in the third as they reduced the margin to six points, they could not sustain the intensity as the Pirates piled on four goals to one in the fourth.
Bradley Schuurman and Sam Glenn led the charge for the Pirates, while Stu Grigg top-scored with three important goals. Despite getting little opportunity up forward, Adrian Del Monte made the most of what delivery he got with four goals for the Hoes, while Samuel Geilings dominated.
The Pirates will now lock horns with Caulfield Grammarians as they try to book a spot in the Premier C Grand Final against the Nodders.
