After going down to Power House last week, Canterbury hit back with an emphatic fourth term helping them defeat Albert Park to the tune of 43 points at Sportscover Arena. Leading by one point at the final change of ends, the Cobras pile on eight goals to one in the fourth quarter and ran away with their third win for the year. Scott Fitzgerald starred in a BOG performance and Thomas Lowden kicked three for the third-placed Cobras. Daniel Ella led the charge as the best Falcon. They sit in sixth with two wins for the season.
Power House maintained their unbeaten streak on the back of eight River Carroll goals, defeating Point Cook by 69 points at Ross Gregory Oval. Carroll was instrumental in the House’s fourth win of the year as he picked up where fellow goal kicker Nick Nagel left off last week when he nailed 12. Andrew Auciello (two) was outstanding for the Bulldogs, who are still with one win for the year.
Swinburne University caused the upset of the round when they came from behind and ran down La Trobe University by eight points. Trailing at every break and by two at three quarter time, the Razorbacks piled on four goals to two in the last 30 minutes as they claimed their second win of the year and climbed to fifth on the ladder. Jackson Manning (three) rekindled his love affair with a venue he’s caused a fair amount of damage at in the past and starred in a best-on-ground performance, while Ben Higgins nailed four goals for the second successive week. Mitchell Gleeson (three) led the way at the other end for the Trobers.
Five unanswered goals in the third term helped UHS-VU overcome a gallant Richmond Central by 21 points and claim their fourth win in a row. Trailing by 13 points at the half-time break, the Vultures rallied for seven of the last nine goals. Ethan Clarke and Brandon Jackson (three) did the damage for the top-placed Vultures while Simon Kenny and Jake Munro kicked three each for the winless Snakes.
30 scoring shots to nine gave Westbourne Grammarians a comprehensive 101-point win over South Melbourne Districts at Westbourne School Ground. The Warriors held the Swans to just two goals for the game while sending through 18 of their own. Ali Eqbal (four) and Nick Schiano (four) combined for eight goals for the fourth-placed Warriors while Luke Money was the best Swan for the second straight week.
