The VAFA congratulates Ward Williams from Ajax as he received the Round 15 Men’s Rising Star nomination follwoing his standout performance against Mazenod over the weekend.
What the club said:
“Coach Mark “Chocco” Williams watched Ward Williams (no relation) playing Under 17’s, liked what he saw and picked Ward for his first game this year at the ripe young age of 16 against Old Scotch in round 12 where he snared 2 goals.
While still attending school, Ward has come into our side and easily stepped up to the pace and physical demands of senior football. Each week he has improved and we look forward to a bright and long future at AJAX.
Not overawed by his lack of experience Ward is a “hard nut” on-baller and has the knack of being in the right place. Tackles well and a real team player.”
