Rovers run riot, Krushers bounce back

Hampton Rovers increased their percentage to 402% on the back of their fourth straight win, this week dismantling Brunswick NOBS by 163 points at Boss James Reserve. An 11-goal opening term set the scene for the Rovers’ day out as they piled on 49 scoring shots to six. Adam McNeil was one of 14 individual goal kickers for the Rovers and named best afield, while Joshua McPherson and Oscar Roberts bagged five each. Dominic Sullivan fought valiantly for Brunswick but ultimately, they were outclassed by a far stronger opposition and now sit ninth with a percentage of 37%.

Ormond set out on a demolition job of their own in Round 4 as they defeated Ivanhoe by 121 points at EE Gunn Reserve. Leading by 57 points at half time, the Monders piled on another 12 goals to three in the third and fourth quarters and continued their unbeaten streak to start the year. 11 players shared the spoils in front of goal but it was Jack McCartney who top-scored with four. Matthew Hine, Luke Gogis and Matthew Oaten each chipped in with three goals while Thomas Buckley was named best afield. Lachlan Bown continued his strong form for an Ivanhoe side yet to win a game and sitting on the bottom of the ladder.

Therry Penola bounced back from their first loss of the year last week with an impressive 56-point victory over Kew at John Pascoe Fawkner Reserve. The Lions led by eight points at the final break but exploded with seven unanswered goals in the fourth. Corey Bannister was back to his very best with a bag of six goals while Jacob Gough and Jonathan Mullins ran riot across the ground. Brinley Duggan was the sole multiple goal scorer for the Bears who sit in eighth spot on the ladder with one win from their first four games.

Oakleigh put a consecutive pair of losses behind them and ran out 47-point winners over West Brunswick at Ransford Oval. Leading by 12 points at three quarter time, the Krushers booted eight goals to two in a dominant final term with Aaron Cloke starring up forward and finishing the game with eight majors. Nicholas Seel was BOG for the Krushers while James Simpson and Evan Lloyd impressed for the Westies. The win elevates the Krushers to fifth spot on the ladder and two places above the Westies.

Prahran Assumption made it two wins in a row when they defeated Preston Bullants by 19 points at Toorak Park. The Two Blues trailed by three points at half time but won the game with six goals to three in a tightly contested second half. James Falcone and Thomas Quinn starred for the Two Blues, as did Samuel Capra who kicked three goals.  Jackson Curic backed up his four goals for the Bullants last week with another three and teammate Patrick Vanin was their best player for the second week in a row. The Two Blues now climb to sixth after a tough start to the year while the Bullants are fourth.
