West Brunswick put on a clinical display when they ousted Old Geelong in an 87-point victory at Como Park. West Brunwick left Old Geelong scoreless at half time, and in the fourth quarter, with the third term only consisting of one goal for the Oggettes for the entirety of the match. West Brunswick’s Laura Jago kicked a spectacular 6 goals and proved unstoppable, as did Helen Lawrence with 3, and Teagan Boadle with 2. Multiple goal kickers and several exceptional performances across the board were too overwhelming for the Oggettes at home, however, Alice Gardiner and Matilda Arthur were courageous in their sides’ loss.
St Mary’s Salesian skyrocketed past a Brunswick Renegades in a 32-1 victory, leaving the Renegades goalless for the entirety of the clash. Interestingly, the Saints were also goalless in the first term however kicked away in the second and third and maintained a solid lead throughout the match. A number of goal kickers from Salesians highlighted their depth and versatility, with strong performances coming from Rebecca Grant, Jasmin Cannizzo and Madeleine Stanley. In their side’s heavy loss, the Renegades Pia Salvatore and Clare Woodhouse were the best performers.
Monash Blues continued their impressive season when they edged past a gallant Old Camberwell outfit at Gordon Barnard Reserve. The teams were neck-and-neck at half time however in the third term the Blues kicked away with three goals to one and lead for the rest of the match. Emily Conroy and Abbie Hansen were formidable for the Blues along with Xanthea Dewez and Ainslee Elliott. Stephanie Defina and Samantha Bangs were the best for Old Camberwell as they sit seventh with just one win in their premiership defense.
Collegians secured their third win for the season when they defeated Mazenod at Albert Park Oval. Collegians got off to an early lead with 12 scoring shots to five in the first half and maintained it until the third quarter, with Mazenod fighting back to within four points at the last break. However, an another 1.6 to a solitary behind in the final term helped the Lions claim victory. Sophie Barbas was best on ground and kicked two goals in her side’s victory, whilst Alyssa Binns and Amelia Peck were also instrumental. Mazenod’s Rebekah Watson and Sarah Biviano were strong all day and contributed significantly to their side’s third quarter comeback.
