Whitefriars ended a two-game losing streak with a comprehensive 127-point win over Emmaus St Leo’s at Bennettswood Sports Ground. Leading by 38 points at half time, the Friars exploded with 14 unanswered goals in the second half. Kristan Height was the main destroyer in front of goal with six, while Adam Pearson and Daniel Tibaldi were standouts. Newbegin Baxter and Max Catchpool fought bravely for the Animals but to no avail as they suffered their ninth loss for the season. The win allowed the Friars to retain fourth spot on the ladder.
Old Paradians maintained their unbeaten streak via a 74-point victory over Power House at Garvey Oval. The Raiders led by 39 points at half time and continued their dominance with another nine goals to three in the second half. Warren Jeffrey was named best afield for the Raiders and Byron Walton top-scored with five goals. Nicholas Easom impressed for the House, as did Eoin O’Connor in his first senior game for the season. The House find themselves with just two wins for the season and in ninth spot on the ladder.
UHS-VU secured their 11th win for the season as they ran out 54-point winners against Bulleen Templestowe at Brens Oval. The Vultures kicked four goals to one in the first term and increased their lead at every break as the match wore on. Clayton Lund was a force in front of goal with four majors alongside three each from Aaron Christiansen and Mitchell Sweeney. Rob Edsall and Jacob Agrotis were the best for the Bullants as they sit in sixth spot on the ladder, four positions below the Vultures.
MHSOB maintained touch with the top four after they defeated St John’s by 30 points at Melbourne High. Trailing by three points at three quarter time, the Unicorns piled on seven goals to two in a dominant final term. Thomas Beale had a day out with six goals for the Unicorns while James Tran found plenty of the ball. Joshua Mourant kicked six of his own in an outstanding display for the JOCs as they continue to improve as the season progresses despite not receiving reward for effort just yet.
Yarra Old Grammarians proved too strong for Eltham Collegians as they ran out 70-point winners at Doncaster Reserve. Leading by five goals at half time, the Bushrangers kicked seven goals in the second half while keeping the Turtles goalless. Inaccuracy didn’t help the Turtles’ cause as they kicked just three goals from their 16 scoring shots. Brendan Lee top-scored with five goals for the Bushragers, while Ryan Pollard kicked two in a BOG display. Eden Simpson and Fraser Cloney were the best of the Turtles. YOGs are in third with nine wins, while the Turtles remain 10th after their first win of the season last week.
