13 goals from Chad Jones helped St Bernard’s to a comprehensive 184-point victory over Mazenod at the Snakepit. Unbelievable scenes transpired out west as the Snow Dogs kept the Nodders scoreless until the final term when they kicked a solitary behind. On the flip side, the home side were unrelenting up forward with Jones taking his game to another level and improving his tally to 71 for the season. Tom Sullivan booted four while Marcus Holland and Michael Caven kicked two each. Thomas Odrowaz was named best afield on an otherwise dark day for the Nodders as their ninth seeding remains but percentage drops to 48.99%.
Beaumaris ended Monash Blues’ two-game winning streak with a 49-point victory at Frearson Oval. Eight goals to one in the first half set the scene for the Sharks before the game levelled out with five goals apiece through the third and fourth terms. Lewis Diggins continued his sensational form with a BOG display for the Sharks alongside Damien Johns and Lochie Brodie. Gareth Taylor was the sole multiple goal kicker for the Blues and Gerard Gillian battled hard. Beaumaris third on the ladder and three games clear of Caulfield while Monash are 10th and on the same number of wins as Ajax and the Nodders.
Caulfield Grammarians ended a five-game losing streak with a commanding 56-point win over Ajax at Gary Smorgon Oval. Trailing by two points at quarter time, the Fields kicked four unanswered in the second and continued with 13 of the last 17 goals. Tim Nixon and Will Osborn starred for the Fields while Nathan Page, Tom Green and Osborn nailed three goals each. Joshua Ludski was the standout for the Jackas as they remain on three wins and in eighth spot on the ladder. The Fields are fifth but three games behind the Sharks in fourth.
Old Carey recorded an important 24-point victory over Uni Blacks and went one game clear in second spot on the ladder. Scores were tied 35 apiece at the main break but five Carey goals to one in the third proved the difference as they created an unassailable buffer. Jarrod Reid led the way with four goals and both Jordan Ceppi and Marc Lock booted three each. Jason Ashby dominated with a BOG performance. Jordan Quaile kicked two and was best for the Black, while Lochy Dornauf registered three. The Panthers sit second but are now a game clear of the Blacks in third.
Old Haileybury edged past Parkdale Vultures by just three points in a thriller at Gerry Green Oval. Trailing by 13 points at three quarter time, the Bloods clawed their way back with seven goals to five in the final term. Lachlan Treverton led the charge with a BOG display, while Nick Gooda top-scored with three goals for the Bloods. Nathan Papatsanis booted four goals for the Vultures as they fall to seventh with four wins. The Bloods climb into sixth.
