10 goals from Aaron Cloke helped Oakleigh to a dominant 102-point victory over Ivanhoe at Scammell Reserve. Cloke, who now has 89 goals for the season with two games remaining, spearheaded the Krushers to a 46-point half time lead before they continued their unrelenting form with 10 goals to three in the second half. Edward Standish and Andrew Murray starred alongside Cloke, while Mali Jacobs and Stefan Zervides were the best of the Hoers. The Krushers remain on the same number of wins (10) as the Two Blues but sit one spot below them in fifth with 16% separating the two sides.
Ormond proved far too strong for Kew in their Round 16 clash, running out 62-point winners at Gunn Reserve. The second-placed Monders blitzed the Bears in the opening term with four unanswered goals and gradually built upon their lead with 13 goals to eight in the ensuing three quarters. Jeremy Simon’s five-goal haul earnt him BOG honours, while Sam Mason booted four and Blair Atkins continued his outstanding form. John Lisle was a standout for the Bears and Richard Wilton tops-cored with three goals. Kew (8th) are now mathematically safe from relegation as they sit three games ahead of Brunswick in ninth.
Prahran Assumption retained fourth spot on the Division 1 ladder with a comprehensive 83-point win over Brunswick NOBS at Toorak Park. Leading by 31 points at half time, the Two Blues fired after the main break and piled on 11 goals to three. Brent Chapman led all comers with four goals for the Two Blues, while Joel Hume and Thomas Quinn were named their best players. No results had been submitted for Brunswick at time of publication. The Two Blues are 16% above the Krushers in fifth.
Hampton Rovers made it four wins on the trot after they defeated Preston Bullants by 45 points at Ruthven Reserve. After a tight opening term whereby just one goal was kicked between the two sides, the Rovers broke away with three goals to one in the second quarter before nailing a further eight goals to four in the second half. Joel Melnjak and Liam Mccartney were named Hampton’s best, while Christian Carnovale and Jesse Donald kicked three goals apiece. Coen Giali – Brosnan and Joel Dunmore were standouts for the Bullants who sit sixth and one game outside the four.
Therry Penola returned to the winners’ column with a hard-fought 15-point win over West Brunswick at Ransford Oval. Trailing by seven points at half time, the Lions kicked away with four goals to one in a low-scoring second half. Daniel Tadinac and Jedd Taylor led from the front for the third-placed Lions while Jethro Calma-Holt kicked three goals for the Westies. The Lions also battled inaccuracy as they had 10 more scoring shots than their opponents. West Brunswick are seventh with six wins for the year. Therry remain a game clear of both Prahran Assumption and Oakleigh.
