West Brunswick premiership star and two-time VAFA best & fairest winner, Bill Irving, is set to coach the Westies in 2019 after the club made the announcement via Facebook yesterday.
Irving, who won both the Peter Hutchinson and OJ Meehan Medals in 2006 and 2008 respectively, will continue to pull the boots on as playing coach as the Westies look to improve upon their seventh-placed finish from the 2018 season.
In their social media announcement, the Westies said “the executive committee was very impressed by the level of detail and passion Bill went into in his presentation for the position”.
“Please get around the great man as we open up a new chapter in our long history.”
Irving will replace outgoing premiership mentor and 2015 VAFA Coach of the Year, Angus Hamilton.
