The structure of the 2019 William Buck Premier women’s competition has been finalised with St Mary’s Salesian and West Brunswick entering the top section for the first time.
The two sides earnt promotion following consecutive grand final appearances in Development Division 1 (2017) and Premier B Blue (2018). The Saints claimed victory in both of those deciders, while the Westies came from 22 points down at the last break in this year’s Premier B Blue Reserves Grand Final and defeated Old Geelong by two points.
They will join reigning premiers Melbourne University WFC, Marcellin, Kew, Fitzroy-ACU, SKOB Saints and Old Trinity in William Buck Premier.
Women’s Football and Engagement Manager, Shona MacInnes, said “both sides deserved the opportunity to compete at the highest level after their success over the first two years”.
“The 2019 William Buck Premier competition represents a fantastic spread of clubs from across our entire association.”
The William Buck Premier women’s fixture will be released next week. All other sections will be finalised and fixtured in the new year upon confirmation of the number of clubs and teams taking part.
