Waite, Williams dine out in William Buck Premier

Collegians strengthened their position in the top four with a 17-point victory over Old Melburnians at Elsternwick Park. With the winner set to sit in fourth spot on the ladder and only three points separating them at quarter time, Collegians kicked four unanswered in the second and extended their lead to 39 midway through the third when Alexander Croft booted three of his four goals. OM’s made a charge late in the third on the back of elite clearance work from Gus Borthwick and Tom Paule but the Lions finished with four goals to three in the final term. Borthwick finished with a game-high 30 disposals and 10 clearances for OM’s, while Sam Parsons (26), Jim Bazzani (21) and Viv Michie (21) were the Lions’ main disposals winners.

After kicking nine goals in his previous 11 games, Old Brighton’s Seb Williams exploded in their Round 13 clash against Old Trinity and booted 11 majors during their 67-point win at the Daley Oval. Williams opened with one goal in the first term before turning the screws with four in the second and a further six in the second half along with 25 disposals. Harry Hill (37) and Nick Pavlou (38) had 75 between them through the Brighton midfield, while Jake Steinhart (30) and Jack Hunt (30) found plenty of it for Trinity. The Tonners move back into fifth spot on the ladder while the T’s (8th) are still a game and 21% clear of De La (9th) at the bottom end of the ladder.

Jarrad Waite returned to the St Kevin’s OB forward line for the first time in over a month and did not miss a beat as he booted 11 goals in their 86-point win over De La Salle at TH King Oval. SKOB led by 40 points at half time before kicking another 12 goals to five in the second half. Mitch Brown returned to the line-up with 37 disposals and two goals while Billy Kanakis kicked four and had 31. Reuben Hayward and Harrison Burt stood out for De La and Jake Williams had 25 touches.

University Blues proved far too strong for Old Carey and ran out 151-point winners in a battle of 1st vs 10th at Uni Oval.  The Blues had 55 scoring shots to nine and kept Carey goalless until the final term when they managed four. 12 players registered at least one goal for the Blues with the Harper brothers, Kieran and Tim, top scoring with four each. Ross Young starred with 33 disposals and two goals for Blues, while Sam Cust fought valiantly and had 30 touches for the Panthers.

Old Xaverians ended a two-game losing streak with a hard-fought 11-point victory over St Bernard’s at the Snake Pit. Trailing by five points at three quarter time, Xavs kicked four goals to two in the fourth with Matt Margin, Matt Merlo and Matt Handley all hitting the scoreboard. Jordan Kelly was outstanding for Xavs with 36 disposals and 11 marks alongside Will Hams (29), Cauley Beetham (29) and Rohan Bewick (28 and two goals). Chris Peart fought hard with 22 touches and 10 tackles for the Snow Dogs as they now fall into seventh spot on the ladder.
