COACH | George Wakim (PB) |
Four-time senior premiership coach George Wakim leads an all-star Division 1 Team of the Year after coaching the Preston Bullants to the flag earlier this year.
Wakim isn’t the only Bullant as he’s joined by Dean Calcedo, Tom Hill, Jack Sammartino and Pepper Medallist Sean Calcedo. Sean was also named captain of the team alongside vice and star Kew and Big V midfielder Jack Delbridge.
Five of the top six goal kickers were named in this year’s team with that quintet led by Aaron Cloke who booted 88 from his 18 games. Cam Perkins was named at CHF after a standout season with West Brunswick.
The selection process for all sections changed this year with coaches given the opportunity to nominate their own players for consideration while also choosing players from opposition teams. This, in conjunction with VAFA Media nominations, formed a more rounded selection committee.
