Nominations are now open for the VAFA Media Awards which will be presented at the VAFA Media Awards Luncheon on Thursday 12 December at Elsternwick Park.
In a bid to acknowledge the vast contribution of club media volunteers and following the success of last year’s first-ever luncheon, the awards will recognise those who excelled across a variety of media platforms throughout the 2019 VAFA season.
Club photographers, writers, digital and social media coordinators may nominate themselves or can be nominated by their club in the following categories:

Criteria for each category can be found below:
Best Photograph (Action)
Judges will consider visual impact, technical superiority, creativity and ability to capture a single moment. Entry to be submitted with a high-resolution file of the photograph (JPEG).
Best Photograph (Character of the Game)
Judges will consider visual impact and technical superiority of images that showcase the unique character, people or culture of the VAFA and its clubs. Entry to be submitted with a high-resolution colour file of the photograph (JPEG).
Best Online Feature Story
Nominations to be a feature piece on your club, a player, issue or personality in the VAFA. Judges will be looking for writing excellence and storytelling ability. A copy of the article is to be submitted (ORIGINAL – Sent in PDF or WORD format).
Best Online News Story
Nominations to be a single news story on your club, a player, issue or personality in the VAFA. Judges will be looking for writing excellence, newsworthiness, research and impact. A copy of the article as is to be submitted (ORIGINAL – Sent in PDF or WORD format).
Best Use of Digital Media (Feature)
Judges will be looking for innovative use of the online medium, originality, presentation, insight, and participation by audience for a one-off submission. Entries can be submitted by MP4 file or web addresses and a description of activity and highlights is required.
Best Use of Digital Media (Series)
Judges will be looking for innovative use of the online medium, originality, presentation, insight, and participation by audience for a set or sequence of related episodes. Entries can be submitted by MP4 file or web addresses and a description of activity and highlights is required.
Best Use of Social Media
Judges will be looking for innovative and dynamic use of any or all social media platforms, originality, presentation and creativity. Entries can be submitted by MP4 file or web addresses and a description of activity and highlights is required.
