The VAFA is set to break new ground this weekend with all 11 women’s preliminary finals streamed live across Saturday and Sunday.
The initiative between the VAFA and filming partner, My Sport Live (MSL), comes off the back of the current RTP Protocols that only allow those required to run a match day to attend games.
VAFA Head of Media, Nick Armistead, said that the decision to stream every game allows the VAFA to put women’s finals in the spotlight.
“With the family or friends of players unable to attend games this weekend, this first-of-its-kind initiative gives those people an opportunity to tune in without missing a minute of finals action,” he said.
“With eight games on Saturday and three on Sunday, this will truly be an exciting weekend for all involved in the women’s game.”
The action will all kick off on Saturday with the Division 1 Women’s (Whitefriars vs Old Brighton) and Premier C Reserve (Ivanhoe vs Mazenod) games at 9am.
MSL Managing Director Andrew Weiss said “this is a wonderful opportunity for women’s footy fans and the VAFA women’s community”.
“To broadcast a record-breaking 11 women’s preliminary finals live and connect clubs to the widest possible audience is going to be fantastic, and furthers our commitment to featuring women’s sport at the forefront of our coverage,” Weiss added.
The live streams will be accessible at vafa.com.au and you can check out the fixture HERE
