Old Scotch vs Whitefriars
Old Scotch Stars secured a second straight grand final appearance as they defeated Whitefriars by 48 points at Camberwell Sports Ground. A 14-point lead at the first break put Old Scotch in good stead and their momentum only continued to build as they held 6 unanswered goals heading into the final term with Emily McClure and Alex Theodosi notching two majors. The Friars responded with young gun Clare Fernandes applying forward pressure and hitting the scoreboard with a goal of her own to boost morale for the squad. Clare Fernandes and Ilaria Akers fought hard for the Friars as they look recompose themselves ahead of this week’s clash against Brighton.
Old Brighton vs Williamstown CYMS
Old Brighton stamped their authority all over Division 1 over the weekend, dominating the semi-final showdown against Williamstown CYMS by a staggering 94 points. It was a landslide victory to say the least, with the CYs held to two behinds in the opening term and unable to make another mark on the scoreboard until the final siren. After leading by eight points at the first break, the Tonners followed through with a further 12 unanswered goals for the remainder of the match. Cat O’Brien was unstoppable up forward for the Tonners and finished the game with four goals, while Siena Visentini kicked two in a BOG display. For Williamstown, Kiara Palmar fought hard on what was a tough day, landing best afield honours, with teammate Sara Pinkowski another standout for the match.
